Football Heads To Des Moines Hoover For Thursday Night Football
The Knoxville Football Squad will get week four in the area off to an early start with a Thursday night game against Des Moines Hoover at Mediacom Stadium in the capital city. Hoover and the rest of the Des Moines Public Schools share Mediacom Stadium so a few times a season each school takes turns hosting a Thursday night game. It is not ideal especially for Knoxville, who is not used to playing on any day but Friday. Coach Matt Dunkin and the coaching staff have made sure all week to get the guys to think a day ahead and Dunkin says the team has responded in a positive way.
Dunkin: “We talk a lot about improving just that day and each individual practice and chaning those days together. We’ve been happy with how the guys have responded and they’ve been getting after it in practice.”
Dunkin adds the Huskies seem improved from last year when the Panthers had an easy 50-0 win. Dunkin wants his team to continue its physical play and dictate their will on Hoover. Live coverage can be heard on your radio home of the Panthers 95.3 KNIA with the pregame at 7:00 and kick off at 7:30.
Volleyball Looks To Des Moines Christian Invitational With Several Opportunities
After falling to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, the class 4A #11 Knoxville Volleyball Squad will head to Des Moines Christian for four matches, two of which will be against ranked opponents. The Panthers will take on class 2A #11 Pella Christian, class 4A #4 Pella, along with host Des Moines Christian and Southeast Warren. The 7-4 Panthers have a chance to get a couple of marked wins and senior player Hannah Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports winning matches tonight could go a long way to regional positioning in October.
Dunkin: “There’s going to be a lot of tough competition there and a lot of people in our class that we’re going to have to play. We just need to be focused and play to the best of our abilities.”
First serve is set for 4:30 at Des Moines Christian.
