A successful fall season continues for the athletes in green and white, and more action is set for the highly ranked Dutch teams. Pella’s #4 in 4A volleyball girls will head to the Des Moines Christian tournament today in Urbandale, which features #11 in 2A Pella Christian in a rematch, as well as #11 in 4A Knoxville, the hosting Lions, and Southeast Warren. The 18-4 Dutch are trying to build more quality wins to ensure they will have a first round bye and home court advantage in October. Matches begin at 4:30 this afternoon at Des Moines Christian High School. They will then play at Ballard on Saturday.
Pella’s No. 1 in 3A girls and No. 2 in 3A boys cross country teams are heading back to one of their two home courses at Central College for the annual Heartland Invitational on Saturday. The meet hosted by Central’s program will feature several Class 4A teams and a handful of out-of-state opponents and will be one of the stronger tests all season for the Dutch. Four total races are scheduled, with girls then boys JV races at 10:10 and the varsity girls and boys to follow at 11:20 a.m. at the Central College Cross Country course Saturday. Parking is limited near the course and tickets cost $6 for entry.
