koby-higginbotham-4

The Knoxville Football Squad got the win over Des Moines Hoover on Thursday night 28-7 in a game called with 9:47 left in the 4th quarter heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The Panthers actually fell behind right off the start as Hoover scored on the first play from scrimmage, scoring on a 64 yard touchdown run. After that, the Panthers defense tightened and allowed the Huskies only 80 yards the rest of the way. Knoxville would respond after the Hoover score with a Koby Higginbotham 95 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Higginbotham would score touchdown receptions of 31 yards and 24 yards. The final tallies of the night was in the 3rd quarter when Eli Fuller scored on a 21 yard pass from Brenden Woolsey and then the Panthers scored a safety when the Huskies long snapper sent the ball over the punter’s head and out of the end zone. While the game did not get played to completion, Coach Matt Dunkin was glad to get the win.

Dunkin: “That was one thing we could see from our sidelines that they were getting a little tired and we want to impose our will against them and finish the job.”

Woosley threw for 128 yards and three touchdowns, Higginbotham accounted for three scores and 96 yards receiving. Knoxville is now 3-1 and will begin district play next Friday at Atlantic.
