The Newton Cardinals Homecoming Football game kicks off at 7:30 tonight against Marshalltown. The Cardinals look to improve to 3-1 while the Bobcats are still searching for their first win of the season. Newton Football Coach Andy Swedenhjelm knows this is the last opportunity to prepare for the tough district schedule that lies ahead.

“We talk about once district play gets here it’s like a mini playoff. Every game matters. This is the last time to iron out some kinks before district play starts.”

Newton’s District schedule includes road games at Bondurant-Farrar, Central College in Pella, and at Gilbert. The Cardinals will host Carlisle and Des Moines Hoover. Tonight’s Homecoming match-up with Marshalltown can be heard on kniakrls.com KRLS3. The pre-game is at 7 p.m. with the kickoff at 7:30p.m.
