It is the biggest game of the year for the Twin Cedars Football Squad. The Sabers head to arch-rival Melcher-Dallas for the 34th meeting between the Marion County eight-man schools. Twin Cedars is looking for its first win of the season but is coming off a win last year over the Saints, which broke a six game losing streak in the series which is led by Melcher-Dallas 33-20. Sabers Coach Mark Ford tells KNIA/KRLS Sports tonight means a little more than a typical game.

Ford: “When we play Melcher, it’s almost our Super Bowl, because it’s such a big rivalry, the kids want to get out there and play well, and get after it. We also have that traveling trophy that we won back last year and would love to keep it where it’s at.”

The Saints are looking to get the traveling trophy back after losing for the first time in six seasons last year. Saints Coach Jason Mason tells KNIA Sports while Twin Cedars does not have the wins to show, he says the Sabers are not going to give the game to the Saints.

Mason: “Just because their record doesn’t reflect their progress doesn’t mean they don’t have good players. They have a good quarterback who moves around, and while they don’t have wins to show, they’re making good progress.”

It is also homecoming for Melcher-Dallas and kick off from the Melcher-Dallas Sports Complex is set for 7:00.
