100+ Men Red Rock donated $4,600 to the Knoxville Federated Garden Club at a check presentation held Friday.
The Knoxville Federated Garden Club was founded in 1998 to preserve and maintain the Bessie Spaur Butterfly Garden, located on the south side of the Knoxville Hospital & Clinics campus.
The club is actively involved in the Knoxville community. They are going to use this donation for continued improvements to the garden. 100+ Men ais a group of men committed to giving back to the Lake Red Rock area by financially supporting the charitable organizations that serve the Red Rock region. The group holds quarterly meetings to support local causes using a simple donation model. Dixie Roorda with the garden club says these funds will be put to good use.
“We are just delighted to have a donation from the 100 men. It will be very well used. We have several projects. Right now we are working on some projects that need funding and some shade for the picnic tables, or maybe down by the gazebo. There’s always projects we can do.”
100+ Men Red Rock selects two names of organizations who have been nominated for funding out of a fish bowl once a quarter to see who receives that quarter’s funds. Since being founded in 2015, the group has given more than $300,000 back to Red Rock organizations, a milestone that was surpassed this quarter. The group had a check presentation at Sheepgate in Colfax on Monday.
