The City of Newton is outsourcing $11,500 worth of fencing repairs needed due to a storm several months ago. Staff from the City’s Community Development Department said they were unable to repair the fencing in-house. On May 21st, Newton experienced a significant storm event that caused damage to several areas of fencing. The needed repairs include replacing bent and broken top rails, line posts, and fence fabric. The city received three quotes for the repairs and the city council this week approved the low $11,500 bid from Lyman Welding of Newton. Newton City Administrator Matt Muckler says the cost of this work will be covered through Tort Liability insurance claims.
