Norwalk came home with a trophy at the 19th annual Heartland Classic, as the boys placed 3rd and the girls were 11th in the showcase held at Central College. Indianola’s girls placed 6th in the 4A field as well.

The #5 in 4A Warrior boys worked to navigate a field that included five other ranked 4A schools, #2 in 3A Pella and #3 in 3A Des Moines Christian, as well as three top five Nebraska schools. Tony Anania placed 8th overall at 16:09.9, followed by Teegan Kralik in 13th (16:22.5), as both earned medals. Sam Parker (36th – 16:54.8), Henry Groos (17:02.1), and Sam Buhrow (53rd – 17:15.5) rounded out the scoring for the Warriors.


No. 11 Indianola navigated several ranked 4A girls teams and No. 1 in 3A Pella to place 6th. They were led by medalist Jordyn Brown, who placed 4th individually. Paige Hoger (31st – 20:27.9), Taylor Hoger (38th – 20:43.2), Keira Labertew (50th – 21:03.3), and Leah Hartford (63rd – 21:34.5) were the scorers for the Indians.

Norwalk’s girls also tried to sort through a deep field to place 11th. Olive DeRocher (35th – 20:37.6), Pearl Brown (43rd – 20:52.6), and Gabby Drymon (44th – 20:52.7) were the top three for the Warriors.
