It was yet another strong tournament performance for the #5 in Class 4A Pella volleyball team as they swept their way to the Ballard Invitational championship Saturday.

The Dutch defeated Nevada twice — once to start the day 2-1 (22-20, 16-21, 15-13) and to win the title 2-0 (21-17, 21-10), as well as Woodward-Granger 2-0 (21-12, 21-9), the hosting Bombers 2-0 (21-15, 21-16), and Johnston (21-17, 21-12).

Pella Head Coach Joel Allman says his team put together a strong day to finish a busy week of action.

“Our goal for today was to try and be more consistent from set to set and match to match. I thought we did a great job with our consistency today, and I was also happy with our toughness as a team. We had 10 matches this week, and we mentally pushed through our fatigue. Everyone on our team today contributed to help us win the tournament and I am very proud of them.”

The Dutch improve to 27-4 overall and defend their undefeated conference record on the road Tuesday at #8 in 4A Norwalk.
