The Class 2A #11 ranked Pella Christian volleyball team earned their 16th win of the season Tuesday night, knocking off Little Hawkeye Conference rival Oskaloosa 3-1.
The win marked just the second time this season that the Eagles didn’t sweep their opponent in a victory. Pella Christian’s other such win came at the Skip Anderson Invitational on August 31st, when they defeated Gilbert 2-1. The Eagles gained the upper hand on the Indians early in the match, winning the first set 25-22, then dominating the second set for a 25-13 victory. Oskaloosa rebounded in the third set to claim a 25-14 win and extend the match into the fourth set. In a back and forth final set, Pella Christian grabbed a narrow advantage late and held on to pick up a 25-22 victory to improve to 16-6 overall and 2-2 in conference action. Addison Bandstra, Brynn Runner, and Rachel Kacmarynski each recorded three blocks for the Eagles defense, while Faith Kacmarynski posted 21 digs. Offensively, Brynn Roozeboom and Addie Van Arendonk powered the Eagles offense with 10 kills apiece, while Chloe Huisman dished out 34 assists on the night.
Pella Christian returns to the court on Thursday for a triangular with Grinnell and Class 2A #14 Grundy Center at Grinnell.
