The Central College women’s soccer team put six of the seven shots on goal Wednesday night, but it wasn’t enough in a 3-2 loss to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Dutch goalkeeper Zoey Sizemore had a strong night in the goal, recording ten saves on 33 Pioneer shot attempts. In the second half, midfielder Kylie Bloomstrom scored her second goal of the season on a corner kick from Abby Frey to even the game at 1-1. The Pioneers scored two goals in three minutes to retake the lead, but the Dutch weren’t done fighting. Less than a minute after falling behind 3-1, Amber Santana found the back of the net on Frey’s second assist of the night in the 78th minute, but Central couldn’t produce the equalizer over the final 12 minutes of action.
The Dutch now move into American Rivers Conference play, opening up with Simpson College on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex soccer field.
