Football Begins District Play At Atlantic

The Knoxville Football Squad will start district play tonight on the road in Atlantic. The Panthers finished up non-district action last week with a 3-1 record after defeating Des Moines Hoover in a lightning shortened game last week 28-7. The Panthers and Trojans are similar in one thing, school colors, yrt after that, the similarities stop. The Trojans do not like, they love to run the ball to a tune of 204 times for 1,576 yards. While the Panthers will be tasked with stopping a run-heavy offense, Panthers Coach Matt Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports, when the Trojans must, they also can throw the ball well.

Dunkin: “That’s what they want to do when you’re watching on film. They have a lot of big guys, they can throw the ball but when they’ve been down or in short time they continue to run the ball so they trust that. We will have to be ready to go and defend the run on Friday.”

The Panthers have never beaten Atlantic in three previous meetings. Listen to the action live on your radio home for Knoxville Sports 95.3 KNIA at 6:30, with kickoff at 7:00.
