After suffering a gut-wrenching 10-6 loss to Wartburg in the American Rivers Conference opener last Saturday, the Central College football team looks to steady the ship as they have trekked to Storm Lake for a matchup today against Buena Vista.
The Dutch are 2-1 overall, but 0-1 in the league, while Buena Vista is 1-2 and 1-0, having held on for a 20-17 victory at Loras last Saturday.
Central coach Jeff McMartin says that what’s done is done and it’s time to move forward.
“One of the things that I want to continue to push with our guys is that we want to become great at getting better, and let’s get better each day. We made mistakes (against Wartburg), we didn’t play our best and things didn’t go the way that we wanted them to go. But that’s done, that’s in the past and that’s never going to change. Dwelling on it and thinking about it is probably not a very healthy thing, while learning from it and moving forward is probably as healthy as it’s going to get.”
Kickoff today is at 1:00 at J. Leslie Rollins Stadium in Storm Lake. Trevor Castle and Don DeWaard will call the action live on 92.1 KRLS, beginning with pregame at 12:35.
