A string of eleven consecutive wins came to an end during an uneven day for the #5 in 4A Pella volleyball team at the Carlisle tournament on Saturday.
The Dutch fell to #9 in 4A Glenwood 0-2 (15-21, 15-21) and the hosting #11 in 4A Wildcats 1-2 (14-21, 21-18, 10-15), while they defeated Southeast Polk 2-0 (21-14, 21-19) and Des Moines East 2-0 (21-9, 21-9). Head Coach Joel Allman says they weren’t able to start the morning as strong as they would have liked to against the ranked teams in attendance.
“I knew both of them would be tough matches with the great outside hitters both teams have. I didn’t think we did a very good job of being ready to play our first match of the day versus Glenwood. In the 2nd match, Carlisle’s outsides took over and I thought I could have done a better job of with adjustments against them. We did a better job in the 3rd and 4th match playing our aggressive brand of volleyball which I was happy to see. We’ll have a great day of practice Monday, and be ready for Osky on Tuesday.”
Pella moves to 30-6 overall and moves back to conference play Tuesday at Oskaloosa.
