In their first of three matches this week, the Central College women’s tennis team picked up a 7-0 sweep over Buena Vista University on Wednesday.

Central swept the doubles matches to grab the doubles point, while only conceding three games. Emma Murphy and Lauren Gano won 6-3 at #1, while the #2 team of Becca Vala and Jenna Mitsuko Mahoney and the #3 team of Madi Whalen and Jennifer Larson swept their opponents 6-0. In the singles matches, the Dutch were just as dominant. Mahoney won 6-4, 6-2 at #1, and Vala moved up to #2 for the first time this season and won 6-1, 6-0. Gano also won easily, grabbing a 6-0, 6-2 win at #3. Murphy continued the success at #4 singles winning 6-0, 6-1. Emily Blom won her third singles match in a row, securing a 6-0, 6-0 win at #5, and Keleigh Hall also won without giving up a game, winning 6-0, 6-0 at #6.

Central returns to the court on Friday, hosting Wartburg College at 4 pm on the Pella High School tennis courts.
