Store for Homes Furniture in Newton will be replacing all the flooring in the Jasper County Attorney’s Office building, despite having the highest bid. All three Jasper County Supervisors felt giving the work to a local company outweighed the $1,370.50 difference between the Store for Homes quote and the low bid submitted by Phillip’s Commercial of Indianola. Store for Homes Price is $24,285.50; Phillip’s Commercial’s  bid was $22,915. The other bid from Iowa Floor Covering in Bondurant was $23,218.59. Jasper County Maintenance Director Adam Sparks has switched to two foot by two foot carpet tiles on carpeting projects, and says it’s worked out well.

“When someone spills coffee , we can replace one, two, or three and not have to live with it for the next ten years.”

Sparks noted $30,000 was set aside in this year’s budget for replacing all the flooring in the County Attorney’s Office building.
