It was another dominating performance for the #1 in 3A Pella cross country girls and the boys fought with just five runners on the course at the Bud & Bonnie Williams Invitational in Iowa City on Thursday.

The Dutch girls defeated a field that included the #3 girls in 4A from Ankeny Centennial, #4 in 4A Dubuque Senior, and hosting #7 in 4A City High. Marissa Ferebee (1st – 17:47.6) and Elsie Brenneman (2nd – 18:11.1) both broke the previous course record at Kickers Soccer Complex held by former state champion Marie Hostetler. Ruth Dunham (9th – 19:37.6), Mara Schiebout (11th – 19:38.8), and Raegan Snieder (18th – 20:03) rounded out the scoring in t he 41 point performance. Lizzie Neumann was the 8th runner in attendance and won the JV title running alone (20:52.2).

Canaan Dunham once again led the way for the Pella boys cross country team, winning the meet to help the team into 5th place in a deep 4A field. Dunham broke a course record in the process, pacing at 15:42.3. The Dutch had Mason Gaulke (13th – 17:03.1), Devon Browne (19th – 17:13), Noah Schuknecht (30th – 17:33.8), and Jonah Ebersole (68th – 18:42.3) to fill in the team score of 117.

Pella returns to distance racing action Monday at Hillcrest Academy.
