An unusually long list of potential Sheriff Department Deputies was approved this week by the Jasper County Board of Supervisors. Lt. Brad Shutts with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department told the Supervisors the Jasper County Civil Service Commission certified seven potential candidates.

“This was one of the finest lists we have seen in quite a while. We had nine people show up, one dropped out during the physical agility testing and one during the formal interview. But the seven listed are fine individuals and we are proud to have them on our list.”

County Board Chairman Brandon Talsma said he doesn’t believe he’s ever seen seven people on the Civil Service Commission’s Certified list.
