The American Legion Riders invite the area community to participate in a Poker Run around Lake Red Rock this weekend for a charitable cause. Registration will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. this Saturday at the Pella Food Shelf (1111 W 16th St), with the overall goal to benefit the non-profit organization. The cost is $20 per vehicle and $5 per rider, and John Hill with the American Legion Riders says the stops include: Food Shelf, South Overlook, Whitebreast, Cordova, Red Rock Marina, and then back to 1111 West 16th Street. Those who can’t participate can stop by the Pella Memorial Building on Saturday to drop off food and cash donations for Thanksgiving meals, including cherry pie filling, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie filling. Every can brought by participants will knock $1 off registration, up to $5. Tours of the food shelf and light refreshments will be available. Those who ride or drive and play the poker run at the five stops can win prizes for the highest and lowest hand, along with ar 50/50 drawing at the end of the ride. All vehicles are welcome to participate. Hear more about the Poker Run on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
