Marion County Public Health held their monthly providers meeting on Monday.

The meeting provides healthcare and community organizations an opportunity to inform the public of updates within their respective organizations. A large group of community healthcare organizations and others showed up at this week’s meeting to share information. There is also a presenter at each meeting, and on Monday the presenter was Jessie Balk with IMPACT Community Action Partnership to discuss different services they offer in Marion and surrounding counties. Balk gave a history of the organization and talked about all of the ways they can provide assistance. Balk says they are trying to continue to provide as many resources as possible through in-home visits.

“One of my main initiatives this year is focusing on Jasper and Marion Counties because we don’t have offices there. It kind of hinders us in a way because of lack of transportation and some people just don’t have the capability of leaving their homes. In the past year we’ve come up with a home visit program where I can go to people’s homes and if they are home bound, disabled, or cant’ get around I can go to their homes and help them apply for these services.”

The Marion County Providers meeting is held the first Monday of every month.
