Early voting for the 2024 General Election will start on Wednesday.
Those who would like to vote absentee can vote at the Marion County Auditor’s Office on the second floor of the courthouse, or they can request a mailed absentee ballot to be sent to them. The last day to request a mailed absentee ballot and to pre-register to vote is October 21st. The last day to absentee vote at the Marion County Auditor’s Office will be Monday, November 4th. There is also going to be a satellite station for absentee voting at the Pleasantville Memorial Hall from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm on October 23rd and the Graham Conference Center at Central College from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm on October 30th. Marion County Auditor Jake Grandia assures the citizens of Marion County that absentee voting is a secured process.
“We handle each one individually, we have to have a request in writing, we get the ballot back to make sure the affidavit is signed and they stay sealed and locked until a bi-partisan team deals with them on election day. It’s a good process. It’s a lot of work, but there are steps that have to be taken, and there are dates that you have to request by or be done by. They have to be returned by election day by 8:00 pm so people need to think about that when they’re considering doing it.”
