The Newton Cardinal football team will look to bounce back from their loss at Pella last week, as they host Carlisle tonight. 

Newton fell to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in Class 4A District 4 action last Friday with a 35-28 loss at Pella. Carlisle enters tonight’s contest with an 0-6 record on the season and are coming off a 41-10 home loss to Gilbert a week ago. Newton Coach Andy Swedenhjelm says the team knows that they need to win all three remaining games to ensure themselves a spot in the playoffs. 

“We understand that not only do we have to win out, our goal is to send a message that we are better than we were last week. We believe we are one of the top teams in the state, so we are here to send a message.”
