Simpson College President Jay Byers will be inaugurated today, celebrating Simpson’s 25th President. Byers was appointed President in August of 2023, and has since overseen the completion of the $10 million Dunn Library renovation, numerous athletics facility enhancements and Simpson’s largest new student enrollment in more than a decade this fall.

Byers’ inauguration will include greetings from Coe College President David Hayes; Gary Steinke of the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities; the Rev. Katie Dawson of United Methodist Church; Brian Williams of Indianola First United Methodist Church; and Amanda Zwanziger, President and CEO of the Indianola Chamber of Commerce.

Simpson College Homecoming activities have been taking place throughout the week, as the Storm football team welcomes Nebraska Wesleyan to Buxton Stadium. The inauguration is today at 2pm in Smith Chapel on the Simpson College campus, with limited seating available to the public.
