The Pella School Board begins their work session Monday with a legislative roundtable.

Superintendent Greg Ebeling says at least once per academic year, typically in the fall, the board interacts directly with state lawmakers representing the Pella Community School District. Both State Senator Ken Rozenboom and State Representative Barb Kniff McCulla have been invited. No public questions will be accepted during that portion of the meeting.

Following the session with lawmakers, the Pella School Board will consider a tabled motion for HVAC screening at Jefferson Intermediate. Then, extensive discussion is expected, as the board has agenda items regarding a request by the City of Pella made by Mayor Don DeWaard for a land donation to support a proposed city indoor recreation center, which will follow a review of the most recent ten-year school facility plan. Discussion will also be held regarding the 2024-25 district goals.

Following those business items, the first set of certified enrollment numbers will be reviewed by the board, which appear to be largely steady, with 2,390 certified enrollees attending the Pella School District for K-12, which directly impacts state funding received to pay for salaries annually. The Pella School Board meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the Pella High School Library.
