Newton Volleyball Travels to Pella While NCMP Aquagirls Compete in Boone 

The Newton volleyball team wraps up Little Hawkeye Conference action tonight with a road trip to Class 4A #6 Pella at 7:15 p.m. The Cardinals will have the hands full against the Dutch, who went 5-0 in their home tournament Saturday to improve to 36-7 overall and 4-1 in conference play Newton enters tonight’s contest with an 11-13 record on the season and 1-4 mark in the conference. The Cardinals last competed on Thursday, splitting a home triangular against Des Moines Hoover and Williamsburg. Newton swept Des Moines Hoover in straight sets of 25-12, 25-12, but lost to Williamsburg in straight sets 25-22, 25-22. 

The Newton Colfax-Mingo Pella Aquagirls are also in action tonight, making the trip to Boone High School for a meet against the host Toreadors.  Boone is 16-16-1 on the season while the Aquagirls hold a 9-6 mark. The NCMP Aquagirls were most recently in action last Thursday, defeating Des Moines Lincoln 107-73. The swim meet tonight at Boone High School is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
