Norwalk senior Grady Sigrist shot a 9-over-par round of 81 on Monday at the Class 4A Boys State Golf Tournament. Sigrist is tied for 50th out of 80 golfers following 18 holes at Briarwood Golf Club in Ankeny.
Sigrist fared well in the first half of his round, checking in with a 1-over score of 37 on holes 10 through 18. He ran into trouble on the front half, taking a 9 on the par-4 fifth hole and shooting an 8-over 44 on holes 1-9.
Johnston’s Andrew Johannsen is the 18-hole leader after carding a 3-under-par 69 on Monday. Johnston leads Wahlert Catholic by three strokes in the team standings, 298 to 301.
State tournament play resumes at 10:00 a.m. today.
