The Class 2A #8 Pella Christian volleyball team wrapped up Little Hawkeye Conference action Monday night, falling 25-14, 17-25, 25-17, 26-24 on the road at Dallas Center-Grimes.

After eight days away from competition, the Eagles hung tough with the Mustangs in the first set, but DCG finished the set on an 11-3 run to take the early lead. Pella Christian bounced back in the second set, taking an early 7-2 advantage and never looked back to even the match at 1-1. The Eagles struggled early in the third set, falling behind 10-0, but rallied to score the next five points to make it 10-5. The Mustangs then scored eight of the next 11 points to go ahead 18-8, only for Pella Christian to answer with nine of the following 11 points to pull within 20-17. The Eagles’ third set comeback effort ended there however, as DCG scored the final five points to take a 2-1 lead. With the match on the line, neither team ever led the fourth set by more than six points, but ultimately the Mustangs finished on top 26-24 to win the game.

Brynn Roozeboom powered the Pella Christian offense on the night with 12 kills, while Chloe Huisman passed out 26 assists. Addison Bandstra led the Eagles defense with four blocks in the match, while Rachel Kacmarynski and Brynn Runner each had three blocks. Faith Kacmarynski had a great night on the back line for Pella Christian, leading the team with 29 digs. The loss dropped the Eagles record to 20-9 overall and 2-4 in the Little Hawkeye Conference.

Pella Christian will have their final tune-up ahead of Class 2A Regional action on Saturday, competing at the Knoxville Invitational.
