IMPACT Community Action Partnership will hold two pop-up events in Knoxville regarding energy bill assistance.

IMPACT is promoting the program they offer called the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program or LIHEAP. The LIHEAP program can help low income individuals with their energy bills, especially in the winter months when it costs more to heat a home. The events in Knoxville will be Monday, October 21st and Tuesday, November 5th from 10:30 am – 3:30 pm at the Knoxville Public Library, and this is a way to meet with IMPACT to discuss options and see if someone qualifies. Those who attend should bring social security cards for all household members, household income and demographic information, and utility account information. Jessi Balk with IMPACT wants to see more people in Marion County utilizing these services. 

“I think that a lot of people just don’t know about LIHEAP and the energy assistance program or maybe they don’t qualify for those programs, or they think they don’t qualify for those programs, but we do have a lot of data that show we are reaching only a small portion of people who could qualify for those services. We just want to make sure that people are aware of those services and they aren’t afraid to call us up to see if they can get some assistance.”

There will also be pop up events at Crossroads of Pella on October 22nd, Discover Hope in Newton on October 16th, October 23rd, November, 20th, and November 22nd, and The Gathering Place in Monroe on November 6th.
