 The Newton Colfax-Mingo Pella Aquagirls picked up two wins in Boone Tuesday night, defeating the host Toreadors 77-24 and Carroll 83-6. On the night, Newton Colfax-Mingo Pella won 20 of 24 events. The Aquagirls are now 11-6 on the year, and next compete on Saturday, October 26th at the Grinnell College Natatorium. Other teams scheduled to compete in that meet include Grinnell, Oskaloosa, Williamsburg, Boone, and Vinton-Shellsburg.

Newton’s volleyball team was also in action Tuesday night, falling in straight sets on the road at Class 4A #6 Pella 25-8, 25-14, 25-19.Senior Chloe Swank led the Cardinals defense with 18 digs on the night. The Cardinals wrapped up Little Hawkeye Conference play with a 1-5 record, and fell to 11-14 overall on the season. The Newton Volleyball team returns to the court Thursday night, competing in a quadrangular at Gilbert High School against the hosts, Oskaloosa, and Southeast Warren at 5 pm.
