Norwalk senior Grady Sigrist finished in a tie for 50th out of 80 golfers in the Class 4A Boys State Tournament, held at Ankeny’s Briarwood Golf Club.
Sigrist, who entered the state meet ranked 18th in 4A, followed up Monday’s round of 81 with an 82 on Tuesday. He finished state with a 36-hole score of 163, or 19 strokes over par.
Anthony Galvin of Cedar Falls is this year’s individual state champion. Galvin won a sudden-death playoff over Johnston’s Andrew Johannsen after both golfers finished at even-par 144 for the tournament. Johnston won the team title by five strokes over Wahlert Catholic, 607 to 612.
Sigrist helped the Warriors to an outstanding 2024 season, pacing the team with an 18-hole average of 72.7 prior to state.
