A bad section of Jasper County Highway T-22 south of Kellogg and Interstate 80 is going to be replaced. This week, the County Board of Supervisors approved a low bid of $70,165 from TK Concrete Incorporated in Pella. Jasper County Engineer Mike Frietsch says that bid, one of four submitted, is about 20-percent lower than the engineer’s estimate of just under $85,000. Frietsch notes 177 feet of pavement is going to be replaced just north of South 44th Avenue East.
“We have a box culvert that was put in 10 to 15 years ago. The ground above that box culvert has settled and the pavement is broken, creating a low spot or dip in the pavement.”
The bid document with TK Concrete Incorporated states the project is to be completed within 60 working days, with a late start date of April 14th of next year.
