Information about what projects the proposed $6,400,000 bond referendum would fund in Jasper County will be shared tonight in the County Administration Building’s Large Conference Room. If passed by voters November 5th, Jasper County will issue up to $6,400,000 in general obligation or capital loan notes to pay for a new Secondary Roads maintenance building and shop. Several Jasper County Conservation Department projects would also be funded by the bond revenue. It would pay for furnishing the classroom at the soon to be built Environmental Education Center, and create an outdoor archery range with equipment. Bond money would also be used to build new maintenance shops at Mariposa Recreational Area and Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve. The revenue would also convert the former Jasper County Animal Rescue League Building southeast of the County Sheriff’s Office and Jail, into a Sheriff’s Office training facility. County Supervisors say passage of the referendum will not increase taxes because the County has a significant amount of debt coming off the books next year. This evening’s informational meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. The County Administration building is at 315 West 3rd Street North in Newton. Another Informational town hall session will be held next Thursday evening, October 24th at 6:30 p.m. in Kellogg’s Amboy Grange Building at 220 High Street.
