Author Chris Jones will visit the Knoxville Public Library on Thursday, October 24th to talk about his book “The Swine Republic”.

Dr. Jones was a research engineer at the University of Iowa and has spent a majority of his career working and studying in the agriculture, environment, and water field. The Swine Republic is a book about the struggles with the truth about agriculture and water quality. In the book, Jones confronts water quality struggles in an agriculture rich state like Iowa. Jones tells KNIA/KRLS that he wants to speak to others and inform them about this issue.

“I think there are a lot of people around the state that would like the condition of our water and the condition of our environment to be better. When they talk to legislators, and leaders, county supervisors, and other elected people they need to be armed with information and they need to speak authoritatively about these issues. That’s what I try to do, I try to give them information so they can speak authoritatively to their legislators and others as we try to affect change to make things better here for us and our children.”

The event at the library will start at 6:30 pm and is open to the public. Hear more from Jones on an upcoming Let’s Talk Knoxville.
