A Newton businessman running for a four-year term on the Jasper County Board of Supervisors believes it’s time for new ideas and perspectives. Jerry Chandler is a former Assistant Maintenance Director for Jasper County and has owned Jerry Lee’s Plumbing and Heating since 2000.

“The reason I’m running is I really believe Jasper County needs to hold some employees accountable for their wages. They should be doing their jobs. We have way too much spending going on in this town.”

Chandler says economic development needs to be reworked so a manufacturing plant can be recruited  instead of “coffee shops and nail salons.” He supports term limits and is not in favor of the Secondary Road Department’s bond referendum that’s on the ballot. He also encourages everyone to vote, no matter who they are casting their ballot for.
