Looking to build momentum ahead of the postseason next week, the Pella Christian football team will welcome Colfax-Mingo to Eagle Lane for Senior Night in the regular season finale tonight.

The Tigerhawks come to Pella fresh off a 62-26 loss to Sigourney-Keota last week, placing a big chip on their shoulder entering tonight’s game. Despite falling to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in the district last week, Colfax-Mingo can clinch a postseason berth and finish in third place in Class 1A District 6 with a win over the Eagles tonight. Pella Christian, who currently reside in third place in the district, will try to prevent a Tigerhawks’ playoff appearance, while building on their momentum created a week ago. The Eagles dominated Cardinal in a 62-12 victory last Friday, securing the program’s 17th postseason berth in its 20-year history. Pella Christian head coach Rich Kacmarynski knows tonight is a big game for his team and says that accomplishing their goal of finishing the regular season strong will take being at the top of their game.

“I think we do all those things by playing our best football of the year. I really challenged the team last night in our pre practice meeting, that we’re poised to play our best football of the year, which i think is true. So, that’s our goal. Colfax is not a team to look past, but our goal is to play our best football of the year at every phase, offense, defense, and kicks. And I think if we do that, I think we’ll get to win the scoreboard and, just as importantly, create some serious momentum going to the first round of playoffs.”
