The Indianola football team found themselves on the wrong end of another thrilling football game Friday evening, falling 35-31 on the road at ADM. The Indians struck first as quarterback Asher Brueck found Jakob Graham for a 6-yard connection, but ADM scored two touchdowns to lead 14-7, only to see Indianola answer with a Brueck to Rylan Hilton 64-yard strike to tie the score at 14 after the first.
Adm scored in the second to go ahead 21-14, but Indianola answered with a Brueck 3-yard rushing score to get within a point, but a missed extra point kept it a 21-20 ADM lead at the halftime break. A Max Martinez field goal put Indianola up 23-21 in the third quarter, only to see ADM score another touchdown to go ahead 28-23, but the Indians answered once more with another Brueck rushing touchdown and a converted two-point conversion gave Indianola a 31-28 lead. The Indians defense forced an ADM punt, and a long Indianola drive through the middle of the fourth quarter ended in a pick-six touchdown for the Tigers as they went back out in front. The Indians defense got several more stops, but two more Indianola interceptions sealed the game for ADM.
Head coach Eric Kluver tells KNIA Sports the team continues to fight to the very end, and they just haven’t been able to find a way to win these close games as they now have four losses by a total of eight points.
Brueck had 291 yards through the air, throwing for two touchdowns and rushing for two more, while Andrew DeWall had two interceptions on defense. Indianola is now 4-4 on the season, and hosts Des Moines North to wrap up the regular season on Friday.
