Half a dozen Newton High School Juniors and Seniors will be out of state later this week, attending the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis Indiana. Newton Superintendent Tom Messenger presented the Wednesday through Saturday trip request to the school board last week.

“A request for a field trip out of state overnight to Indianapolis for the National FFA Convention from October 23rd through the 26th. I believe six students would be going to it. It is something that occurs annually.”

Newton High School FFA Advisor and Agriculture Education Instructor James Horn put in the request for the trip. He says while they are in Indianapolis the students will attend leadership workshops, explore the career show, listen to keynote speakers, and tour local ag businesses. The Convention itself will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium.
