Five Norwalk athletes are contributing to a successful season for the Des Moines Lincoln girls swimming and diving team this fall. The Rails finished the dual season with a record of 8-1-1 and placed second in their home invitational on September 28. Their overall record is 12-2-1 going into this week’s conference meet at Marshalltown. Diving competition will take place today followed by swimming on Thursday.

Norwalk swimmers are led by senior Emma Sizemore, who will seek to become a four-time state qualifier later this season. According to gobound.com, Sizemore  has recorded the Rails’ fastest times this year in the 100-yard freestyle, 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle. She placed 19th in the 500 freestyle at last year’s state meet.

Additional Norwalk swimmers on the Lincoln roster include sophomores Mallory Betts, Hannah Smith and Alliyah DeOliveira and freshman Eva Smith.

The Rails will travel to Johnston for regional competition on November 7 and 9.
