The PCM volleyball team dominated Clarke Tuesday night in the opening round of Class 3A Region 1 play.

The Mustangs defeated the Indians in straight sets to advance to the regional semifinals on Thursday. PCM took set one 25-7, set two 25-7, and set three 25-8. Senior Rebecca DeVries led the team in kills with seven while Libby Winters had six. Winters also had five aces on the night while Tori Lindsay had four. Addison Steenhoek led the team defensively with14 digs. Coach Sarah DeVries says it was important for her team to stay on top during the match.

“I think that was key for us going up against this team, making sure we’re playing our game, staying on top, staying focused, and going at it hard.”

The Mustangs will now look to shock the world against 40-4 Mount Vernon on the road Thursday night in the regional semifinals.
