Isaac Rankin is a three-time State Cross Country Meet Qualifier. The Knoxville runner finished 2nd at the class 3A State Qualifying Meet at the Pella Sports Park on Wednesday to guarantee himself his 3rd entry at Fort Dodge. Rankin ran a time of 16:15 and he and the rest of the field had to endure a restart as a runner fell before the first 100 meters so the start was called back. Rankin said he paced himself throughout and told KNIA/KRLS Sports his confidence is much better this season after winning several races early this season.

Rankin: “I’m definitely more confident. I feel I’ve been proud of my races this season and being more level headed and doing this well here is a real confidence booster heading into State.”

Rankin adds a top 15 is the goal this season at Fort Dodge. As a team Knoxville finished in 8th place. The Class 3A boys State Meet is next Friday at 11:15 at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge. The girls ran just three runners with Halle Baker leading the way in 59th place with a time of 23:38.
