The Indianola volleyball team dominated Southeast Polk in the regional semifinal on Thursday evening at home, winning 3-0. The Indians got off to a fast start, winning the first set 25-14, then went on a 15-1 run to end the second set 25-9, only giving up a point on a serve into the net, and then ended the sweep with another dominating 25-14 victory.
Senior Camryn Overton surpassed 1,000 career kills in the match.
Indianola improves to 37-6 on the season, and will host West Des Moines Valley at home on Tuesday for a chance to go back to the state tournament.
Indianola Football Hosts Des Moines North in Season Finale
With just a slim chance of making the postseason, the Indianola football team ends their regular season tonight hosting Des Moines North. The 4-4 Indians have lost by just a combined eight points all season long, and the injury-plagued team will try to go 2-3 in district play with a matchup against the winless Polar Bears. Indians head coach Eric Kluver tells KNIA Sports the team shouldn’t be fooled by North’s winless record, they have big play capability and if they take their minds off of a play or two North can strike in an instant.
The game can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rob Hawkins on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30pm, with kickoff at 7pm.
