The PCM football team will host Des Moines Christian tonight in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs.

The top ranked Mustangs defeated Iowa Falls-Alden 48-0 last week to end the regular season with a perfect 8-0 record. It is now a new season for PCM as they enter postseason play and their quest for a state title tonight. The Lions finished the regular season with a 4-4 overall record and are coming off three straight losses to end the regular season. The game will showcase two good quarterbacks as PCM’s Gavin Van Gorp has thrown for 1,055 yards this season and 21 touchdowns while Des Moines Christian’s Jett Each has thrown for 1,252 and 11 touchdowns.  The Mustangs have a substantial advantage in the running game as senior Adrien Robbins rushed for over 1,400 yards and 18 touchdowns in the regular season.

The Lions offense will have their work cut out for them against a Mustang defense that only allowed 57 points total during the regular season. The two teams have played each other twice in the Bound era with the Lions winning in 2019 and the Mustangs winning in 2018. Tonight’s game in Monroe will kick off at 7:00 pm.
