The Pleasantville girls cross country team finished fourth and the boys team finished eighth at their home state qualifier meet on Thursday.
Neither team or individuals were able to punch their ticket to the state meet, but with such a young roster there is excitement surrounding the future of the program. The girls team finished with 94 team points and their top finisher was Summer Isley who finished 13th with a time of 20:55.30. The boys team finished with 203 team points and their top finisher was senior Kurt Kuhnen who finished 28th with a time of 18:59.23. Pleasantville Coach Aaron Fichter said there were a lot of things to be proud of at the meet.
“Great competition today. The course was great. We had a great turnout just from our Pleasantville community, family, and friends. I was really happy with a lot of things today, kids that maybe set a season best that didn’t get to be in the top 15 or top 20 but other things where you hope to put your best foot forward and stay healthy and some of those things didn’t go our way that way, but lots of things to be proud of for sure.”
