Colfax Democrat Brad Magg wants more State money for education and more collaboration between political parties at the State Capitol. Magg is running for the 38th District State House seat against incumbent Republican Jon Dunwell of Newton. Magg claims he reached out to Dunwell and worked with him on some Health and education issues, but says Dunwell did minimal work to follow through on those issues. Magg calls public schools and education the backbone of every community and believes more state money should be spent there.

“You take communities like Baxter and Lynnville-Sully, if they lose their school they lose their community. With the defunding of public education that has been happening at the State level, especially last year, it’s unsustainable. Our public schools and our children deserve better than that.”

Magg says he’s spent about 15 years on the Colfax City Council. He’s also a small businessman, having opened Goldie’s Ice Cream Shoppe and Magg Family Catering in Prairie City. Magg is also the co-owner of Spring City Pharmacy in downtown Colfax. Hear more from State House Candidate Brad Magg on today’s Let’s Talk Newton.
