team-11

It was all Harlan from the start as Knoxville was unable to stay with the Cyclones in the Panthers season wrap up as they fell 42-7 heard live on 95.3 KNIA. Harlan scored 14 points in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd quarters to build a 42-0 lead with the running clock. Knoxville would get on the board late in the fourth with a 7 yard pass from Brenden Woolsey to Max Magana. Harlan hardly stopped the Panthers as Knoxville could move the ball up and down the field but Harlan seemed to always stiffen up on defense when the Panthers approached the Cyclones 30 yard line. Panthers Coach Matt Dunkin was disappointed in not finishing some early drives.

Dunkin: “The score didn’t seem too reflective of how the game was going and we got short field and couldn’t take advantage. We always had guys in the right and we just can’t have that with a good team.”

Knoxville amassed 293 yards of total offense and 235 through the air while rushing for just 58 yards while Harlan rolled up 405 yards of offense. A few records were set in Friday night action. Brenden Woolsey had 226 yards passing and that was enough to break a record held by Ryan Leisure in 1998 for the most yards passing in a season as Woolsey only needed 145 to set the record. Koby Higginbotham broke his own record for receptions in a season from last year. That mark is now 38 up two from last year, Higginbotham also broke the career receptions record held by Mike Hudson from 2017-to-2020. Higginbotham broke that record a few weeks ago and will end his career at Knoxville with 98 career receptions. Knoxville finished the season 4-5 and will look to continue that improvement in 2025.
