Continuing their pursuit of a State Tournament berth, the #9 Pella Christian volleyball team will host Pleasantville in the Class 2A Region 8 semifinals on Monday.

The Eagles took care of business in their first postseason contest, sweeping Earlham 25-8, 25-18, 25-16 in the quarterfinals on Wednesday. The Trojans also reached the semifinals last Wednesday, knocking off ACGC in five sets for their first win in three tries against the Chargers this season. Monday’s match between Pella Christian and Pleasantville will be the second meeting between the two schools this season. The Eagles and Trojans prior matchup came at Pella Christian’s home invitational back on September 5th, with the Eagles claiming a 2-0 sweep to win the tournament title. Pella Christian head coach Andrea Kacmarynski has appreciated her team’s progress this season and encourages fans to come out and support the team as they try to reach the regional championship.

“These girls are really special. They’re a special group, and they’ve worked really hard on their team chemistry this year, so it is so fun to be a part of their energy. Come watch the girls have a great time. Our coaching staff really enjoys coaching these girls, it’s been an honor. They work hard and they love hard, and so it’s been so fun to watch them just do their thing on the court.”

The Class 2A Region 8 semifinal match between Pella Christian and Pleasantville on Eagle Lane Monday night begins at 7 pm, and the game can be viewed live on the Pella Christian YouTube channel.
