Knoxville Cross Country Runner Isaac Rankin has learned a lot from being at the State Meet the first two years of his high school career. Rankin will return to Fort Dodge with a goal of improving on his previous finishes at State which are 98th in his freshman season and 113th in his sophomore season. Rankin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he has learned from his preparation from the physical to the mental side and believes he is ready to attain his goal of a top 15 finish.

Rankin: “I know definitely having it at a different time of day. I know it can impact performance, but I think I’m ready to go up there and improve on everything.”

Rankin actually cut nine seconds off his time from freshman to sophomore seasons at State. His best time this year is a 15:58 set at the Wayne Meet on September fifth. That time would have easily put him in the top 15 in last year’s class 3A State Meet. This year’s class 3A State Meet is Friday at 11:15 at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for coverage of the State Meet this weekend.
