The Warren County Board of Supervisors opened a pair of time capsules found during the demolition of the former Warren County Courthouse on Tuesday. A capsule from 1938 sustained significant water damage and the contents were difficult to decipher, but a capsule from 1988 was also opened and featured contents including a picture of county employees, magazines and newspapers, yearbooks, and building plans among others.
The capsule from 1988 will be re-buried on the Warren County Justice Center grounds, with a time capsule set to be opened in 2074 also buried, which will include items such as newspapers of current events such as Caitlin Clark and Taylor Swift, COVID-19 tests and masks, discussions regarding the Indianola School Board, a license plate, the county budget, and photos of staff and building projects among others.
