Just two games remain in the 2024 season for the Central College football team, barring a surprise selection to the NCAA playoffs. Today, it’s the final home game on the schedule as the Dutch welcome Loras to Ron & Joyce Schipper Stadium.
The Duhawks are 1-6 overall and 1-4 in the American Rivers Conference, while Central is 6-2 and 4-2. With a win today and a win in two weeks at Nebraska Wesleyan, Central would be clinging to the slimmest of playoff hopes, but coach Jeff McMartin says that’s not what they’re focused on as the season enters the home stretch.
“We want to get better and finish the season strong. We want to have momentum going into the offseason for the underclassmen and have some really special memories for the seniors as they conclude their careers. We’re going to continue to battle hard and see where everything lands after the last game of the season, but we’re worked really hard to try and be a one game at a time 1-0 team every week and we don’t want to get off of that mindset.”
Kickoff is today at 1:00 at The Schip. Pregame coverage starts at 12:35 with Trevor Castle and George Wares calling the action live on 92.1 KRLS and the Central Dutch Network.
