The PCM Mustangs perfect season will continue as they dominated Greene County at home Friday night in the second round of the Class 2A Playoffs, heard live on 95.3 KNIA.
The Mustangs picked up the 48-6 win over the Rams to improve to 10-0 on the season and advance to the state quarterfinals next week. The game started with an electric 80 yard touchdown run by Adrien Robbins on the first play from scrimmage. The Rams answered right back with a 70 yard hook and ladder touchdown to make it a 7-6 game. After that play it was all Mustangs the rest of the game.
Senior quarterback Gavin Van Gorp scored three straight one yard quarterback sneak touchdowns to cushion the lead for the Mustangs. Van Gorp then connected with receiver Riley Graber on a 51 yard touchdown pass to break open the game. After that running back Adrien Robbins had a receiving touchdown and the Mustangs defense then wrapped up an impressive performance with a pick six by Keegan Fenton. PCM Coach Greg Bonnett says he feels lucky to be part of this fun season.
“This has just been a super fun season. Fun guys. Just great PCM football players. A lot of our past teams would be really proud of these guys, those guys that came before them. I know I’m lucky to be a part of it. I say that a lot, but I really mean it. I hope that every coach sometime in their career gets to experience something like this, because it’s just amazing. It really is.”
PCM will take on Mid-Prairie next week at home in the Class 2A State Quarterfinals with a trip to the UNI-Dome on the line.
